Selah is a quiet place to reflect on life through Scripture. This page explains, in plain words, what we keep, what we do with it, and the control you have. We tried to write it the way we'd want it written for us.
Selah is an app made by Rayo Marketing. If you have a question about your data, or you'd like us to help you access or delete it, you can reach a real person.
Your account: your email, an optional name (a made-up one is fine), and your password — which is stored only as a secure hash, never as plain text.
Your reflections: your conversations with Selah and the messages in them, the memories Selah keeps about you (which you can view, edit, and delete anytime in Settings), your prayer list, your notes, your daily entries and moods, and where you are in your reading.
If you turn on the daily verse reminder, we store your notification subscription and the time you chose.
What we do not do: no advertising, no selling your data to anyone, and no third-party analytics or tracking. There are no trackers following you around Selah.
When you talk with Selah, your messages are sent to Anthropic, the company behind the Claude AI model, so it can write a reply. Anthropic processes your messages to generate that reply and, under their API terms, does not use this data to train their models.
You choose how long your conversations are kept: 7, 30, 90, or 365 days, or forever. Older conversations past your window are truly deleted, not archived.
You can delete your whole account at any time, in Settings under "Delete account." That removes everything — conversations, memories, prayers, notes, daily entries, reading position, and the account itself — permanently, and for good. Deletion is real, not a hidden flag.
Your data is encrypted in transit and at rest by our infrastructure providers (Vercel and Prisma Postgres). We take care with it.
But we can't promise more than is true: like any service, we can be subject to lawful requests from authorities, and we cannot promise immunity from them. We only ever store what you choose to share.
Because Selah is a place people sometimes bring real pain, your messages are checked server-side against a simple list of crisis words so we can gently show you real-world help lines when it matters. When that check fires, we record only that it happened, of what category, and in what language — never the text of your message.
You have the right to access your data, to take it with you, and to delete it. Deletion is built right into Settings, and we'll help with the rest if you ask.
What you share here can be personal and religious in nature, which is sensitive. That's exactly why we only store what you choose to tell Selah, and why deletion means deletion.
